Midnight Hunters: what changes on Erangel

Midnight Hunters is a themed version of Erangel with new areas, creatures and items. It does not replace the regular Erangel.

Vampire Takeover areas. Four well-known locations have been redesigned and tied to missions: Rozhok, Mylta, Quarry and Gatka.

Indoor arenas. Stalber and Sosnovka Military Base are now indoor combat arenas, with puzzles and hidden details in the tables, bookshelves and murals.

Creatures. Three new hostile types: Bloodwalkers, Nightbats and a Vampire Elder.

Bloodline Awakening: coming back as a vampire

The biggest change is what happens when you are eliminated. During set windows, up to 20 eliminated players per match can return as vampires, with abilities called Claw Strike, Absorb, Blood Sense and Blood Amberfication. So being knocked out early no longer always ends your involvement in the match.

New items

  • Twilight Bat Wings let you fly and move freely across the map.
  • Silvermoon Chain works as a weapon against creatures, a grappling line across terrain and a defensive shield.
  • Hunter Bandage gives quick recovery.
  • Scarlet Tonic and the Blood Pact link are also part of the mode's themed kit.

Ocean Odyssey is back on 30 September

The underwater mode returns on 30 September and runs alongside Midnight Hunters. It brings back the Ocean Palace, the Trident weapon, underwater exploration and the Kraken boss fight. If you missed it the first time, it is one of the more distinctive modes BGMI has had, and underwater fights look very different on video from ground fights.

What to expect later in the season

Krafton is spreading the content across September, October and November rather than releasing everything on day one. October brings the Kiaraa character with a Diwali-themed Indian Bazaar area, plus the Techno Gamerz voice pack. The Diwali Prize Path runs from 22 October to 15 November. In late October comes a voice pack crate featuring Shreeman Legend, Snax and iPreet.

Before you update

  • Free up storage first. Theme updates add new maps and assets, and a failed download halfway through wastes time and data. Clear a few gigabytes before you start.
  • Update over Wi-Fi and keep the phone charging. Resource packs download after the store update, inside the game.
  • Re-check your controls after updating. Your sensitivity and layout should carry over, but new items like the Bat Wings and Silvermoon Chain add buttons. Make sure they are not sitting on top of your fire or scope buttons.
  • Retest your graphics settings. Night-themed maps and particle effects can be heavier on older phones. If your frame rate drops, lower graphics one step before you lower the frame rate.

Recording Midnight Hunters for clips

Limited-time modes are good montage material because the footage stops being possible once the mode ends on 16 November. A few practical points:

  • Record whole matches, not just highlights. In a mode where you can come back as a vampire, some of the best moments happen after your first elimination, when you would not normally be recording.
  • Night maps are harder on video. Dark scenes compress badly, and phone recorders lose detail in shadows first. If your recorder has a bitrate or quality option, raise it for this mode.
  • Keep the kill feed visible. Do not move or hide HUD elements for a cleaner look. The kill feed is how you, and any tool you use, find the moments afterwards.
  • Save Ocean Odyssey clips separately. Underwater and land fights look very different, and mixing them in one montage without a clear break can feel jarring.
  • Move recordings off your phone regularly. Long night-mode sessions fill storage quickly, and a full phone can stop recording partway through a match.

Once your recordings are on a Windows PC, finding the knocks and eliminations in hours of footage is the tedious part. GamingCap reads the recordings you already have, keeps the moments where your own in-game name appears in the kill feed, and exports the clips you keep as one montage.
